Issue 6 of @anthologymag is in! Swing by to get yours. It’s a delight with the theme “handmade at home.”
A bit about the current issue: Issue No. 6 features homes in Pennsylvania, California, Melbourne, and British Columbia. There are profiles on artists in Austin and Amsterdam (which is also the locale for our travel story). We visit with a homesteader in North Carolina, as well as a coffee roastery in San Francisco. And if you’re in the making mood—after all, the theme of the issue is “Handmade at Home”—we’ve got you covered with a tufted headboard tutorial and recipes for a simple yet so satisfying three-course meal.”
This is a fantastic article about the rise of “Indie Capitalism” that helped me put a title to why I’ve enjoyed running Clementine so much.
As I mentioned in the notes, not only are the independent artists & designers that Clementine buys from producing high quality items, but the process of “doing business” with them is incredibly enjoyable. There are no boardrooms here. I look at products over coffee; there’s reciprocity and a true openness about what products (from gift wrapping to website hosting) work best; my packages arrive - especially from the letterpress artists - wrapped beautifully with sweet notes; and over the last year+, I’ve shared endless thoughts about the business/life/family balance (and baby photos) with fellow business owners who are people I’ve come to totally adore, though we’ve never met.
The article states: “Another indie capitalism characteristic is a heightened meaning embedded in materials and products. Making fewer things of higher quality and utility is important.” Yes. This is what the independent business owners do. They are constantly innovating, environmentalists in practice, entrepreneurs at every turn and artists at their core. This mix makes incredibly great products. These are the products I talk about, that customers love buying and come back to tell me how much they loved giving.
I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this new capitalism. It’s rewarding the right people. And it’s fun.

Found all of these lovely mini white pitchers antiquing this week. Love how sweet they are together.
I’ve long had a love for mini silver salt & pepper shakers. The idea of everyone having a tiny delightful place setting is wonderful. This week, I found all of these tiny white pitchers. After wandering antique stores, often my gathering takes on a sweet theme, either in color or outline. This week tops that list.
With these little pitchers I picture a big brunch where every other person gets their own mini pitcher of maple syrup. Delicious.

Julian was a bit board today, so we hopped up into the cozy chair in the window and watched the cars and people going by for a good 20 minutes. It was perfectly entertaining for him and so much fun when people stopped to wave.
I was alone in the shop on Friday, and so, was able to take down the Christmas window and replace it with some of our fabulous new baby things including: little girl aprons from Yellow Bird, kid rolling pins from VT Rolling pin, Aden & Anais swaddles and bibs, Shanna Murray Illustrated decals, Vital Industries bike onesies, All Wild Red Riding Hood and fawn print onesies, May Day Studios “Oh Darling” print, Separelli felted donuts, Jelly Cat stuffed animals and Aliette animal prints.
We’re so in love with our kid items right now and, if I can get Julian’s nap schedule on track, my goal is to start an online shop for Clementine with a selection of our favorite things for far away friends!
